There have been several formations of Troop 316 in Lower Bucks County dating back to to the mid 1970's but none of them lasted very long and there is no recorded history of these units.
In April of 2008, the current edition of Troop 316 began with 10 Webelos Scouts from Pack 316 and a few boys new to Scouting. The original chartering organization was the Pearl Buck Elementary School PTO where the Troop met for the first couple of years. The Troop then moved to the Penndel-Middletown Emergency Medical Squad on Route 1 in Penndel and took them as their new chartering organization. Eventually, the Troop moved from the Penndel location to the PMEMS substation on Yardley-Langhorne Road. Each year, the Troop grew in size, eventually outgrowing the PMEMS facility. The Troop also began to attract Scouts from nearby Levittown, Fairless Hills, and Bristol so despite the wonderful partnership and support from PMEMS, it became clear that a new home was needed. In 2010, the Troop was welcomed and chartered to Christ United Methodist Church in Fairless Hills which continues to support our Troop to this day. In 2023, our charter partner changed to Levittown Fire Company #2 but the close relationship between Troop 316 and CUMC and their support of scouting continues by providing a meeting place as well as other important functions. We are fortunate to have 2 strong supporting organizations for our Troop.
Scouts in Troop 316 enjoy a full and varied program of outdoor activities. If you like camping, hiking, canoeing, biking, swimming, fishing or other activities in the great outdoors, this is the Troop for you. But these great activities are only a part of the story. Scouts build self confidence, practice healthy living habits, learn good citizenship and develop leadership skills that will last them a lifetime. We are truly lead by our youth leaders using the Patrol Method under the careful guidance of trained adult leaders.
